6th ETS Conference

ETS 2018 – INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS – Oral presentations and Posters

As you make final preparations for your ORAL presentation please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • Regular session presentations are scheduled as 12 minute presentations with 3 minutes for questions.
  • Check out programme at the conference website
  • Remember to check it regularly because updates may occur.
  • We are assuming that all oral presentations will be delivered using Microsoft Office Power Point slide presentation.
  • The meeting room will be furnished with a computer and a computer projector.
  • Each presenter is responsible for sending their presentation to the ETSC Convener at by the 27th JUNE 2018

Posters need to be put up between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday (1st JULY) and between 8.30 and 9.15am on Monday (2nd JULY); presenters should attend posters during each coffee break (Monday to Tuesday).

Posters need to be removed by 8.00 AM on Wednesday (4th JULY).

Posters must be 90cm x 120cm on a PORTRAIT Orientation – we will provide glue pads. No push pins, Velcro or any other kind of materials allowed.

Use attach logos (ETS + 6th Conference) in your poster.

Each poster is required to contain a panel listing the title of the abstract, the name(s) of the author(s), the communicating author’s email address.

The following tips may be helpful when preparing your poster:

  • Use a large font size, and bullet your major points.
  • Keep the text to a minimum – posters often contain far too much text.
  • Attractive charts, tables and graphics will greatly increase the effectiveness of any poster.
  • Illustrations and tables should be kept relatively simple to maximize legibility. Keep captions brief.
  • Lines in graphs should be heavy. Choose colours that are easily distinguishable from one another.
  • Symbols, letters and numbers should be large enough to be seen from a distance of 2 metres.
  • It’s easier to read a poster if the information is arranged in vertical columns rather than horizontal strips.

NO POSTER printing available at the Conference venue. You must bring it already printed.

Call for extended abstracts and manuscripts: 6th ETS Conference 2018 – Manchester, UK
The 6th European Turfgrass Society Conference will be held at the Renaissance Manchester City Hotel (Manchester, UK) on 2nd to 4th July 2018. The Conference is organised by Convener Stewart Brown and the Board of the ETS.

The theme of the ETS conference is: “DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREEN” to reflect the diverse range of both natural and artificial turf surfaces utilised in sports and amenity landscape situations.

We invite all turfgrass and amenity professionals to submit Extended Abstracts or Manuscripts to be considered for oral and/or poster presentations. Authors submitting full manuscripts can also submit these for publication in a special ETS Conference edition of Agronomy Journal (American Society of Agronomy).

The ETS Board and the Organizing Committee welcome abstracts and manuscripts from all disciplines. We support the study of turfgrasses for all uses: aesthetic, athletic, and recreational. Multidisciplinary studies within the fields of breeding, physiology, nutrition, turfgrass management, landscape, and the use of applied technologies are also welcome.

The “Extended Abstract” size limit will be strictly enforced, as it will be published and printed in the Conference Proceedings.

Authors can be listed as first author of the “Extended Abstract” for maximum three times.

All documents MUST be submitted in ENGLISH language only.
